WORKING GROUPS
Midwest BDC convenes several working groups to address opportunities for engagement in building decarbonization work and to create a space for cross-sector collaboration.
We connect individuals representing a mix of local, state, regional, and national organizations - from local environmental and climate justice advocates to nationally recognized “Big Greens.”
All working groups meet on Zoom either monthly or quarterly.

This cohort sits under our Legislate Forward Campaign and was designed as a place to learn, practice, and co‑create the strategies our communities need. As data center development accelerates across the Midwest, we’ve evolved this group into a blend of campaign strategy, legislative strategy, and advocacy coaching that supports members in real time.
We continue to hold space for questions, skill‑building, and confidence‑building — but our focus has sharpened. The cohort now centers on developing resources and tools that help members:
Regulate data center development with clarity and community power
Protect frontline communities from environmental, economic, and energy burdens
Build legislative protections that advance equitable decarbonization
Use strategic tools like powermapping to understand influence, pressure points, and pathways for action
This cohort is a collaborative workshop space — a place where members can grow their advocacy skills while co‑creating the protections our communities need.
Together, we make building decarbonization visible, data center regulation and community protections actionable, and all of it rooted in justice.

Join us to understand and address the health and air quality impacts of fossil fuel combustion in buildings.
Through collaboration, capacity-building, and policy advocacy, the group works to ensure healthy homes and buildings for all

Join us s to shape equitable frameworks for climate action—especially in local policy, codes, and implementation strategies.
Together, we build shared language, tools, and strategies to embed equity into building performance standards, electrification policies, and energy code campaigns across the region.
4th Thursday @Noon EST
Join us to take collective action on a key advocacy item, for just one hour a month!
Each session focuses on a specific topic, often centered on federal and regulatory policy, and will guide attendees step by step through an advocacy action
