Policy Power Hour |

Join Midwest BDC’s monthly Policy Power Hour

a dynamic, one-hour session where coalition members unpack the latest legislative updates, regulatory shifts, and advocacy opportunities across the Midwest.
This Month’s topic:

UTILITY JUSTICE & AFFORDABILITY

the Hidden Costs of Energy, Water, Air, and Noise

Last month, we explored the types of data centers, their impacts on community health and affordability, and how our members are responding to these rapid developments across the Midwest.

This month, we turn our focus to Utility Justice & Affordability — examining the hidden costs communities shoulder through energy, water, air, and noise burdens. We’ll ground ourselves in justice frameworks before unpacking how utility systems shape household affordability, public health, and long‑term community resilience. Participants will leave with tools to understand trade‑offs, ask informed questions, and advocate for state legislation, community‑centered protections, and health‑impact reparations that advance true utility justice.
