One of the most valuable strengths of Coalitions is that they provide spaces for people with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and opinions to come together and work towards a common goal. Understanding and respecting different communication styles is vital to strengthening our collaboration.

In this session, Stephanie Bowman (Mother’s Out Front) and Maggie Heiser (Midwest BDC) will explore different communication styles and their influence on our organizing work. Participants will be given instruction and activities to uncover their own communication styles and learn about others. Through these activities, we will all walk away with a better understanding of how our backgrounds and life experiences influence our communication styles, and how to work together in solidarity and mutuality across these differences.
